What does the free classroom program include?

The teacher-led collaborative classroom pathway includes free digital educator resources and a free digital classroom copy of the completed classbook. Request a project plan with YAU to confirm eligibility, format, and production details.

Is the free classroom copy printed or digital?

Your classroom receives a free digital copy. Printed books and family packages are optional paid purchases.

Do families have to buy a book for a child to participate?

No. Family purchasing is optional. Every contributor can take part in the classroom project and author celebration whether or not their family purchases a book.

What are the optional family purchase prices?

The Published Author Package is $40 and includes a book, certificate, and sticker. Additional printed copies are $25 each. Confirm the book format, availability, any delivery costs, and ordering instructions for your specific classroom project before paying.

How can a parent ask about a school project or printed copy?

Visit the Parents area and submit a family inquiry with your school or organization and any school-provided project reference. Do not include a child’s name or sensitive information. The inquiry records your question; it does not place or charge for an order.

Which grades can use the program and resources?

YAU resources can be adapted from Pre-K through grade 12. Grade labels help teachers choose an entry point. Match the activity, pacing, and supports to your students and confirm your classbook plan directly with YAU.

How many pages should our classbook have?

Plan for 32 interior pages as the standard and 40 interior pages maximum, excluding covers. Start with one contribution page per student and allow space for front matter. For 37 or more contributors, discuss multiple volumes or a custom quote before preparing final pages.

What is the difference between a classbook and an individual book?

A classbook gathers multiple students’ contributions into one collaborative title. An individual book is a separate title created by one author. Individual titles and custom services have their own scope and production terms.

Are teacher downloads free?

Yes. Complete the $0 email checkout to unlock your selected PDF resources. No credit card or payment is required. Download links appear on the confirmation screen.

Do I have to join the mailing list to download a resource?

No. Name and email are required to record the free checkout. The teacher email-list checkbox is optional for downloads and inquiries.

Can I print another copy or replace a page?

Yes. Use the Replacement Kit Materials area for fresh writing, illustration, title, dedication, and author-planning sheets. You can complete another free checkout if a download link expires.

How long do download links last?

Links stay active for 24 hours. You can complete a new free checkout whenever you need a fresh link. The site currently displays downloads on the confirmation screen rather than sending automated delivery emails.

Can students use AAC, drawing, dictation, or other supports?

Yes. Plan meaningful contributions through the communication methods students use. Work with the student and school team to choose supports, preserve authorship, and follow school permission procedures.

Do you offer facilitated workshops or author visits?

Yes. Custom writing and publishing workshops and author visits are separate from the free teacher-led classroom pathway. Visit Workshops to discuss your group. Custom workshop programs start at $3,000; the proposal confirms scope, format, and final pricing.

How long will the classbook take?

Timing depends on your project and production arrangements. Confirm submission, review, and delivery dates directly with YAU before promising a finished-book or celebration date.

Can we create a story at home?

Yes. Families can use the free story planners, drawing pages, and book-cover tools for a home writing activity. A home project does not automatically include printing or publication. Ask YAU about individual-book options if you would like to explore them.

Where should student manuscripts and permission forms be sent?

Start with a classbook request. YAU will arrange submission instructions directly. Do not upload student names, manuscripts, or sensitive information through the general website inquiry forms.
